The Kurdish Weaving Tradition
Kurdish rugs come from Kurdish weavers historically settled across the Zagros Mountains region of western Persia, one of the oldest and most technically respected weaving traditions in the Persian rug world. Unlike many nomadic tribal groups who prioritized speed and portability, Kurdish weavers — whether working from settled villages or semi-nomadic camps — became known for unusually fine, dense knotting, producing rugs with a weight and durability that set them apart even among other tribal weaves.
