What unites them instead is how they were made: hand-knotted by tribal families working from memory and inherited pattern knowledge, rather than in fixed workshops following formal designs. That difference shows in the character of the rugs themselves. Tribal weaving tends toward bold, instinctive geometry — diamonds, hooked medallions, stylized animal and plant forms — passed down and reinterpreted from one generation to the next rather than copied precisely.
